I find the subject matter of the paintings I made -The famine Statues in Dublin- very interesting. The idea behind the original statues was to act as a tribute to The Great Potato Famine, which happened nearly 200 years ago. The statues from the outset were made to look old and decaying in service to said event. The idea that these statues were made to be old from the outset was what grabbed me, so I wanted to capture that in my painting.
