I used watercolour paint and magazine cut outs to make my collage of a cat inside of an Escher inspired mouse Tessellation. I found it challenging to cut out every individual mouse from the garden magazines lying around my house, it took its time but the end result made it totally worth it. I used pattern, space and contrast between the black cat and the colourful mice in the background to create this piece. I started my work with my black cat Harvey firmly planted in my mind. I wanted to bring to life his playfulness and of course his love of mice as well . I was very influenced by Escher and his use of clever tessellations but also to make it my own.
