poker face

I titled this piece Poker Face to suggest the hidden emotions behind a clown's cheerful face. Clowns represent both fun and childhood joy but can also feel unsettling, even creepy! i was Inspired by a clown puppet in the art room, I wanted to present this familiar, innocent object in a new way. By using only pencil, I stripped away color to focus on the form, shapes, and patterns, i think this makes the clown’s exaggerated features feel more sinister. This piece pushed me outside my comfort zone, demanding more technical detail and imagination than my usual drawings. In a way, it explores how our imagination can reveal hidden fears.
