Hi, my name is Uishe. I love all types of art, and the piece I made is called Glitch. I chose this name because my sculpture looks a bit crazy and random, like a glitch. I made it from items that I found or made, including a broken lens from one of my pairs of steampunk goggles, a crossbow that I made at forest school, a selection of items from a beach in Kerry called Ballybunion, some sticks, fringing from my art box, fake hair also from my art box, and some luminous pink rubber tubes, also from my art box. I made this using a lot of stuff I found in Kerry because Kerry is really special to me since a lot of my family lives there. I also made it because I actually really, really love ART! I love art because of the feeling you get when you think of an idea, when you are making the art, and afterwards when you can admire your work. It’s just the best feeling ever! I loved making this piece, and I love putting lots of materials together in a random way to see how they look and to discover new ways of using them. Art is my favourite hobby by far. I like doing sculpture, drawing, and sewing. I have done so much art, and I wish I could include it all here. I hope this piece makes people happy when they look at it and that they enjoy noticing all the random items in it. I’d love to make it life-size one day, as I think that would be a lot of fun. That’s about everything. Bye, and thank you for the art competition!

“Uishe wow! All the Judges were blown away by ‘Glitch’. Your use of materials, your form and your understanding of metaphor and complex concepts are really advanced for your years! Keep going, you will be a wonderfully successful artist, I have no doubt.”
