8-11 Category • 2024This is art competition. Materials . The materials I used were watercolour paper 200gsm. This allowed me the technique of dot/stipels to not damage the surface and achieve the layers of ink, and allowed shades to build up and keep from bleeding. Fine liners were used to build the general shape and dot the space to create shading and some effect. Then using architect pens, because they have a flat nib and their ink is more dark and will build the shade and tone. Then I built small and larger dots to build up the piece. I chose this process dot/stippling because I like this process it takes many, many hours over a few days to finish the work as it needed to dry before more layers can be added, it's a slow but very interesting process. Inspiration I love the process of the dot drawings and the black and white contrast. I love graphic novels, sketching, painting and stuff like that so it's a really enjoyable art form for me because it's kind of all in between those things. What inspired me the most was… the dot paintings and drawing I have seen by famous painters such as Georges Seurat’s a Sunday afternoon On the island of la Grande Jatte witch is one the best dot paintings ever (in my opinion) or the work of Paul Signac an amazing French painter.
