This Piece Is An Amalgamation Of Interlocking Lines And Imagery, Blending Realism Oriented Portraiture With Expressive Abstract Landscapes And Scenes Of Nature. The Chaotic Yet Interconnected Composition Was Intended To Reflect The Deep Rooted Ties We Posess Towards Our Own Human Experinces And Those Who We Experince Them With, Symolised Through The Motif Of Connection With The Overlapping Shapes, Tying The Individuals And The Places They Have Experinced Together. The Piece Was Constructed From Multiple Large, Thin Sheets Of Wood Which I Cut Out And Arranged Into What I Believe Is A Dynamic And Interesting Composition. For The Painting I Utalised Oil Paints To Achieve A Duality Of Texture, Allowing For Both Thick, Expressive Impasto In The Landscapes, Representing Our Blurred Almost Fuzzy Sense Of Memory And Pondering Over The Past, Giving A Sense Of Disonect Between What Has Been Experinced Before, And The Current Reality. I Created Juxtaposition Though A More Refined, Detailed Approach In The Portraiture, Attempting To Make The Figures More Relatable And Human, With Groundings In Reality, Unlike The Fanciful Encapsulated Moments In Time That Are Being Reminisced Upon. I Used A Variety Of Bright Brilliant Colours Througout To Represent The Richness Of Human Connection, However Contrasted This With The Blue Line Elements Which I Utalised Not Only To Imply Interconnectivity, But To Establish Melancholy Through The Contrasting Cool Tones. I Wanted To Create An Exploration Into The Human Psyche, As We Always Long For What We Cannot Have, Such As Fleeting Moments From The Past, Or The People That We Held Dear In Those Moments, Which Is Also Why I Decided To Use Landscape References Containing The Same People Present In The Portraits, To Create A Sense Of Connection And Emphasise A Sense Of Lost Sentimentality, And Friendship Reduced To Nothing But A Distant, Sorrowful Memory.
