When i read the theme this is imagination this was the first image that flashed into my mind. The Painting depicts the feeling of being trapped in a bad mental state and how you can feel isolated within your own thoughts and feelings. The girl in the painting is plummeting from the Earth, which represents reality, so fast that i depicted her as a comet to emphasise the speed at which she feels she’s Falling. She is encased within her own thoughts (barbed wire) which prevents her from noticing the hands, understanding her pain, straining to reach her. I painted this scene to anyone who feels stressed or isolated by their thoughts or won’t allow Themselves to reach out, and to let them know they’re Not alone. I’m here. I experimented with a mix of Gouache, watercolour and ink on a large piece of Watercolour paper for this piece. I let my imagination run wild and allowed the watercolour to run its own way in places as i felt it fit the theme of the competition. I tried to make the top of the painting softer and calmer to create a safe feeling to contrast with the harsher and jagged ink at the bottom which stands for the depths of her worries. Everything in the painted came from my own head and used my self as reference for the poses!
