12-15 Category • 2024D ‘Peeling Back’ Is An Exploration Of Identity And Vulnerability Of Simply Being Human. The Art Is Depicted Through Bold Colours And Expressive Strokes. I Chose These Colours To Accurately Represent Me. As It Is A Self Portrait I Wanted All Aspects To Resonate With Me. I Believe Whether Your Black Or White Or Green On The Outside, Its Not How You Are On The Inside. Me Personally, Im All Colours As Depicted In My Art Peice. I’m Not One Colour Or Multicolour. Whatever Colour You Can Think Of, I Am. I Feel I Can Resonate With Any Person Or Any Colour Out There. I’m Angry, Im Red, Im Sad, Im Blue, Im Neon Green At Times, And Sometimes Im Light Pink. I’m Never Nothing And Always Everything At The Same Time. I Wanted To Explore The Expressiveness That Truly Lies Beneath The Skin. I Used Vibrant Colours To Show Human Emotions Are Rarely Simply And That They’re Often Complex And Hard To Understand. Each Colour May Resonate Deeply And Different To Everyone Who Views This Art And Thats It’s Beauty. The Gesture Of My Self Portrait Pulling My Lips Backwards Is An Attempt Of Revealing Something Raw. Something Real. Something Unfiltered. I Want Viewers To Reflect On Themselves When Viewing This Piece. How Much Do YOU Hide? What Would It Look Like If We Revealed Our True Colours? Would Your Layer Be Comprised Of Yellows, Or Blues? Or Maybe Even Gray? I Encourage You To Get To Know Yourself On A Depeer Level. Find Out Your Colour!
