Name of artwork: Hurling Hurlers Name: Brody Butler Age 10 County: Dublin Size: Hurley (L 67.5cm x W17.5cm x H 1cm) Helmet (L 15cm x 18cm) sliotar ( L 6.5cm x 7.5cm) What inspired me: Hurling is my favourite sport and I was inspired by it to make this hurling sculpture. Materials: Cardboard, ruler, tape, hurley, grip, plastic bowl, straws, paper towels, knife, lighter & marker. Process: Hurley: I cut out a hurley stencil three times so it would be sturdy and would not break as easy. I taped it together and then put rulers on the handle and wrapped it using the grip. Sliotar: I got paper towels and wet them into a ball and then when it dried, I drew on it with a marker. Helmet: I started with an old bowl and heated up a knife. I cut through the bowl to make holes and then melted the straws on to the helmet.
