8-11 Category • 2024What inspired me: I was inspired to make the hurling helmet because I love hurling. Materials: Balloon, glue, water, newspaper, sponge elastic, grey & navy crayons, paint, staples and cardboard. Process: I blew up a balloon and covered it in newspaper which had been drenched in glue and water. I let it dry for four days then I painted a few layers. I popped the balloon and cut out the shape of a hurling helmet. I made the face guard and straps with elastic. I made the chin guard out of sponge. Finally, I made the side pieces out of cardboard and attached them to the helmet.
