Acrylic on canvas, Tonsil Trees! Dictated by matthew (6 years), scribed by Mommy… ‘’Mommy told me about the competition and then I really wanted to do it! And then we ‘writed’ (wrote) down all the things that were going to be in the picture that reminded me of nature. The name is kind of ‘tonsilly’ because I got my tonsils out recently and when I was off school I started doing the painting right away. I did the background red because I wanted the colours to come out stronger. We got the acrylic paints out and started to paint. Then the next day I was ready to do the trunks. I did the leaves next, then I did the flowers. I did foxgloves and daisies and butter cups because I’ve been in the woods lots and been on lots of walks too and I’ve seen them there. My favourite part was doing the flowers and the sky and then it was done! It was the best! ‘’
