The art piece we created is a giant giraffe mother and her calf made from recycled materials for sustainability. The name of the group is called Rob's Art club. It is a total of 27 children. ages range from 8/12 4th class to 6th class. Tuesday's class concentrated on the mother giraffe and Wednesday's class concentrated on the calf, we combined the two giant giraffes together to create one huge art piece which now resides in Pope John Paul the second national school in malahide. Materials used. Second hand clothing donated by local charity shop St Vincent de Paul cardboard boxes donated by Harvey Norman other materials PVA glue, print stick, pins, scissors, tracing paper, markers, material flowers, and hard work. We could have a bed sheet as the canvas and stuck that to cardboard then we use our markers to draw out the giraffe and all its markings and patterns after this we used tracing paper to trace the patterns and cut out the material with the scissors we put our initials on the patterns so as not to be confused when gluing. It was like a giant jigsaw puzzle which was great fun putting back together we also used butterflies and bumblebees because they are pollinators and the humble butterfly is an indicator species for nature. The children had so much fun creating this piece, we are already excited for next year This is our second time entering this competition and we love it.
