My inspiration for this piece of art is bluebell wood. Bluebell wood is a trail in the town of portaferry where my grandparents live. I chose it as whenever i think of nature i think of admiring the bluebells on the trail with them. The medium is Alcohol and paint markers. I chose Alcohol markers as i find them easier to use and because they produce bright, vibrant colours. Now i shall explain the textures in this artwork. To start with, for the ground [ front ] i coloured it plain brown with dots and a few green weeds poking out. Behind it [ middle] i created the Texture by drawing lots of ferns in light and dark green which get smaller and turn lighter as you look further back. For the field around the path, I did dots and small lines as it is in the background as i didn’t want too much detail. For the land at the very top behind the tree [ top ] i did the same. For the texture of the tree itself i drew many brown lines for the bark with some green squiggly lines for the ivy wrapping round. For the wall i drew many thin and thick lines. The leaves were thick lines and the vines and minor details, for example the shading on the rocks, were done in thinner lines. To create the cloud’s texture many lines were layered. The lines were in 2 Different shades. This also applied to the sea with the cloud’s reflection as well. Finally for the centre piece ,the bluebell wood sign, i used many different shades to create the shading and lines for the texture of the wood. Overall, my favourite part is the sign due to the beautiful bluebells and as it brings back many happy memories with my grandparents.
