8-11 Category • 2026This painting represents my experience in Finland. The scene felt magical because I had not seen snow since I was two years old. The painting shows a snowy landscape with a tree and a small cabin. I titled it A Snowy Tree because snow covered everything around me. The blue line beneath the cabin represents a frozen lake. When I tried to walk on a real frozen lake, it felt like an ice skating rink. I kept slipping, and walking was difficult. The dark marks near the cabin represent footprints. They also resemble stones. They reflect the marks left behind by people and snowmobiles moving across the snow. This artwork captures how Finland felt to me. Cold. Quiet. Magical.
