This piece is at a bird's eye view, which I felt was fitting since birds are one of the main subjects in the drawing. This angle creates dynamic between the birds and the girl, while the birds are looking straight ahead, the girl is looking up at them with a look of longing and despair, wishing for the freedom they have. The main focus of this drawing is the girl's relationship with nature, and her desire to be apart of it. The birds I chose for this piece are barn swallows, because they are common Irish birds that symbolise freedom, hope and new beginnings, all the things the girl wishes for but doesn't have.
