Reminder

This drawing shows a full-grown magpie in a birch tree. To create this drawing, I used coloured pencils, felt-tip pen and water-colour paints. Sketching the bird before going over the line art with a thin felt tip pen. And building up the colored pencil in layers until I got the desired shade. I then cut the picture out and stuck it onto a piece of water colour paper that I had already painted. The inspiration for this drawing came from an experience I had as a child when a fledgling magpie was in my garden. He was unable to fly and took much longer than his sibling to learn, but he kept trying and eventually he succeeded in taking off. I don't know what happened to him after he left, but this picture shows him all grown up with full adult tail feathers as I hope he looks now. He serves as a reminder to me that even though I may sometimes learn slower than other, I can still accomplish my goals.
