8-11 Category • 2026Hi! I’m Mary and I’m 9. I love painting animals and I think nature is amazing. I watched a lot of Coyote Peterson on Brave Wilderness and he showed me how cool and strange creatures can be. I decided to paint this poisonous frog because I love its strange colors. I saw a photo of one and wanted to try to draw it myself. I used my alcohol markers to make the frog's skin look really bright, like a warning in the jungle. Then I used pastels because they give a velvety soft, incredible texture to the leaves. I wanted the jungle around the frog to look deep and soft, while the frog stays bold and shiny. I want people to see that even though this frog is tiny, it is a powerful part of our natural world!
