I created this artwork using satin acrylic paint on a small canvas. I enjoy using mixed materials and like working on small canvases because they help me focus on details and big ideas in a small space. I like layering my work, building colours slowly so the painting develops over time. I painted the background first and then added more layers, thinking about what each part would mean. I was inspired by a story about "The Promised Land" that Moses told the people about during a long journey. I imagined what that place might look like. The yellow shows the sun and represents hope and happiness. The green represents springtime, new life, and growth. The blue is a river where you can swim, and it also shows the journey leading forward. Even though this painting is made with acrylic, I am currently exploring watercolour and enjoy blending colours with it.
