Breathing in the sea

This piece was inspired by the sculptures of 'Johnson Tsang', whose work feels calm and peaceful. His faces often look still and relaxed, like they are caught in a quiet moment. I wanted to bring that feeling into my own work and mix it with my love of the seaside. The seaside has always been a place where I feel calm and free. Breathing in the fresh sea air makes everything feel lighter. The smell of the sea, the sound of the waves, and the cool wind help clear my mind. Being near the water slows everything down and gives you space to breathe. The piece reminds of how I feel during the summer holidays while making this work. Playing on the beach, collecting shells, and relaxing before heading back to school are some of my favourite memories. Working with clay helps me feel calm too. This piece is about fresh air, quiet moments, and carrying the feeling of the sea with you, even after you leave. This sculpture is about that peaceful feeling you get at the seaside. The face looks calm, as if it is resting or listening to the waves. Nothing at the seaside feels rushed, and I wanted this piece to feel the same way.
