This artwork was inspired by a nature hunt, where the boys explored their environment and collected fallen leaves. These natural materials became the main tool for creating sunflower prints, encouraging a strong connection between nature and creativity. The leaves were used to print the sunflower petals, resulting in a variety of shapes, textures, and patterns. Each print is unique, reflecting the natural differences found in the leaves themselves. Warm tones of yellow and orange were chosen to capture the brightness and energy of sunflowers, while also allowing the boys to experiment with colour and placement. The centre of each sunflower was created using fingertip painting. This hands-on technique added texture and depth while supporting fine motor skills and sensory exploration. The repeated fingertip marks create a rich, layered effect, bringing the sunflower centres to life. Throughout the process, the boys were encouraged to work at their own pace, make choices, and explore freely. The activity promoted creativity, confidence, and engagement, while also highlighting how natural materials can be transformed into meaningful artwork. The finished pieces celebrate individuality, creativity, and the beauty found in nature.
