An Nádur – Our Thoughts, Our Nature This art project explores the idea that nature is not separate from us, but something we belong to. Children were invited to engage with the natural world as a space for reflection, emotion, and connection. Through drawing, painting, and creative making, they observed nature closely and expressed how it makes them feel, what it offers them, and how they exist within it. The resulting artworks reflect a shared sense of nature as a source of comfort, wonder, and belonging. The children represented familiar elements such as trees, animals, rivers, the sun, and the sky, using diverse materials, colours, and three-dimensional forms. Each contribution was personal and unique, yet when combined into a mural, the work became unified, as if created by one collective voice. This mirrored the children’s experience of working together naturally—supporting one another without instruction—much like trees that appear separate above ground but are deeply connected through their roots. A key strength of the project is its universality. Nature belongs to no one culture or place; it is shared by all. Symbols such as a rising sun, flowing water, or growing plants carry meaning across the world. Through these shared images, the project demonstrates how art can connect individuals through common human experience. By understanding themselves as part of nature, the children developed a quiet awareness of care, balance, and respect for the environment. Ultimately, this project shows how children can express profound ideas through creativity, reminding us that through nature, we are all connected. While there is difference in us all nature can show us that through the experience of connecting this is where similarity lies and the essence of the person and it can show us ourselves and how collectively we share the experience.
