Commendation

“This is extraordinary”. This is what we should all be saying about ourselves everyday. Instead of putting ourselves down we should be bringing ourselves up. That is why I chose to do a self portrait model because I think it’s so important for us to appreciate ourselves and recognise that we are all extraordinary in our own right. This piece is made out of clay and glazed with a crackle glaze to give a distressed effect. I have taken inspiration from classical busts with the shoulder cut offs and the tilt of the chin. It may not be perfect, but this is me, and we are all extraordinary.
