This drawing was inspired by the idea of depicting the perception of nature itself. The entire landscape of twilight, from the rainbow that bridges the gap to the sentient daisies and the path of mushrooms, exists as a reflection in the eye of the hawk, signifying that the land itself is conscious. The landscape was created with layered colour pencils to achieve the soft glow of the clouds in the twilight sky and the twinkling of the first stars appearing. The textural hills, flowers, and other elements were collaged from magazine cuttings, adding a sense of tangible, found elements to the work. In this work, I have attempted to depict the idea of nature as a conscious, interconnected whole, with the sentient flora and the hawk, both observers of the environment, signifying that the land itself is not simply a passive observer, but an active, witnessing entity in constant contemplation of its own beauty.
