This piece was inspired both by the work of the french artist Henri Matisse and our love for hurling. We were studying Matisse’s work as part of an art Appreciation class in school and really loved his paper cutouts. They reminded us of leaves and seaweed and so wanted to replicate some of them in school but to do so in a Kerry way. Being from the hurling part of kerry, what better way to do it than with a huorler, camán and sliothar. We wven gave him gree hair and gold togs !
