Our artwork was a group piece created by Approx. 35 students of secondary level age. After discussing our theme of This is Nature we were inspired by the green man as a pagan God of plants, nature and as a symbol of life and rebirth. We looked at images of the green Man created in English Art (carvings, stained glass, door knockers). We firstly created a large paper machie mask with a base of chicken wire using a mask mould. We also purchased individual cardboard masks and decorated these and the large mask with paint using colours from a forest. We also created leaves with textural drawing and added these to our group and individual masks. Extending this project further Our Lámh Choir did a performance piece and sang and signed to 'What a wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong while wearing our masks. A song we thought Symbolized the importance of nature in our world. Finally all our masks were placed together for our final display, representing all of us who were involved in this creative Nature project.
