My name is Daisy, so it was inevitable that I would grow up loving nature. I’m from an artistic family, so I’ve grown up with a love of love creating and making art, and I’ve been painting, crafting and drawing for as long as I can remember. I also have special interests in animation, dance, music, and literature. For this artwork, I used acrylic paint on canvas with various brushes, including a fan brush to make sweeping circular motions in the paint. I built up the paint in layers to create texture, and used masking tape to create an edge. I used this border area to represent the northern lights. Living in the countryside, this painting was inspired by the natural world around me, and especially looking up into the sky where almost any night it is filled with the astonishing starlight and moonbeams. Recently, the aurora borealis has visited my night sky in a glowing haze of moving colours rising from the horizon. My painting represents a quiet moment between just me and the world, a moment of wonder at the beauty and joy of nature.
