This was my first experinces of working with Charcoals , at first i couldn't see how a picture could evolve from a grey/black background . Through trial and error , removing and adding charcoal with sponge, erasers and my fingers I saw this winter dawn lake scene emerge. Trying to figure out where the light would catch on the water and creating cloud cover was particularly interesting. The charcoals I used were from my older cousin and since then I have my own materials and plan to get lost in the fun and experience of learning and playing through charcoals. I love how the way I taped the page to frame my picture makes the image look like a photo negative. A very beautiful accident.
