This is a group project that we made when we saw that the woodwork class was not using this lovely Cyprus and Oak bark . We imagined it as a harsh rocky landscape for a seaside village with faded paint showing erosion from the sea. We also wanted to include our own hometown so have made a mini Clondalkin round tower and replicated some of the old cottages our grandparents would have grown up in. We used air drying clay and painted the houses with acrylic paint, so we were inspired by zero waste, our local village and the idea of Ireland as a little island. We drilled holes in the bark for fairy light so it can be lit up at Night-time too.
