8-11 Category • 2026My artwork is called Unexpected because nature is not always just trees, flowers, and animals. Sometimes nature can be made from surprising things. I used shells, buttons, metal wires, metal figurines, cord, a glass bottle, clay, glass mosaic, metal colored pieces, a watch, and butterfly wings made from resin. I chose these materials because they are all different, just like nature. Some come from nature and some are made by people, but together they make something new. On the left side, I made a creature that looks like it is growing. It is made from shells and clay. It feels like a plant and an animal mixed together. It shows how nature can be strange and magical. In the middle, there is a tree made from metal wire that grows out of a glass bottle. Instead of leaves, it has buttons, shells, and little metal shapes. I imagine this is a special tree that grows treasures. It shows how nature and human-made things can live together. On the right side, there is a mask standing on a pole. It has a watch and metal pieces on it. The watch shows time. Nature changes over time, and everything grows and changes, just like us. The mask makes it feel like nature has a face and a story. The butterfly wings are made from resin. Butterflies show change and beauty. Even though the wings are not real, they still remind us of real butterflies and how special nature is. The colourful base is like the ground where everything stands. It is bright and happy because nature is full of colour and life. This artwork shows that nature can be found in unexpected places. It does not have to be perfect or real to feel like nature. I want people to feel curious and surprised when they look at my artwork. I want them to see that nature is everywhere, even in objects we don’t usually think about.
